Let it be

Usually the only thing you have to do to teach a toddler something is to let him do it... Probably true in all ages/stages

I'll tell you about it later... kinda busy

I have bored myself with my "blog" ... It is a lot harder than I thought to spend a few minutes to come up with something interesting to write about. I still believe it is a good exercise. There is so much I am excited about at the moment, but taking the time to write about it is very difficult to do. There is not enough time. I am a full time parent and don't have a moment to spare, my child needs me constantly even during his sleep! I need sleep too! I have been foregoing sleep to learn python, the django web framework for python... even more interestingly I have been learning about top down design, test driven development, agile project management... oh my! I love this stuff!

Enough exclamations....  back to Djano tutorials (test cases!!)

Peaches and cottage cheese

My favorite food for the last couple of months has been canned peaches (in juice) with cottage cheese. It's the best snack ever. My 1 year old loves it too!

Chocolate cupcake coconut raspberry pi

My husband bought me a raspberry pi for my birthday! My sister saw the box and asked me if that was my chocolate cupcake not remembering what it was called. She is more into chocolate and baking than computers. She is going to make me a coconut cream pie for my birthday. Two pies, it can't get any sweeter.

My baby has been suffering from an ear infection. I've been forcing drugs into his mouth for a few days now. :( amoxicillin, Tylenol, Motrin. At least the fever is over now and we just have to keep giving him the antibiotic until we finish it. I'm sure it bothers his stomach. He has had watery foul smelling poops.

I just need an hdmi cable and I can start playing with my pi! I'm just going to use it to work on programming assignments.

I have noticed that my mind goes to negative thoughts very often and I feel very sad. I won't write what these thoughts were because it does not matter. There is always something. I need to do daily mindfulness practice.  Exercise, vitamin up, remove the hormonal IUD.

Jim about theft again

We often have this discussion. Is taxation theft? I argue that that is not the right word to use, even though it's true that something is being taken from you under the threat of force. Theft implies something unlawful and since the government is the law, however unjust we may think it is, law is law and not theft.

Jim views property rights as part of one's natural rights. I view property "laws" as equal to the infamous "social contract" ... as generally agreed on arbitrary social constructs. This valuation I make leaving out moral judgements. Perhaps that is a mistake. Jim's beliefs about personal and property rights are deeply tied to morality. What is right is right. If there is no moral relitiveism then, it follows that there is a "natural" law, natural rights.

Unseasonably warm

The highlight of yesterday was that I cleaned two of our three bathrooms. I scrubbed the bath and shower and cleaned and reorganized. It was much needed and very satisfying.

For real goal of 2014: clean bathrooms weekly! Showers should be scrubbed once a week. Since having a baby, I've done it every few months. We don't use the third shower so just have to keep that toilet clean. It's a lot to do when a baby needs your constant attention. I try to use safer products like vinegar and baking soda and stay away from bleach and harsh chemicals.

Jim removed the moldy caulk in one of the showers and replaced it. Today he and Dad are rewireing one of the dining area light switches that wasn't hooked up to anything (someone previously removed something, like a ceiling fan) to turn on the kitchen light.

Today is a beautiful warm day! Temperature in the sixties. Lysander enjoyed a walk by the river in his stroller. He loves seeing geese. We also walked around the backyard, but the ground is so soft and uneven from moles burrowing all over the yard.

Next up for the day, my sister's Downton Abbey Tea Party! Can't wait! She makes delicious treats. :D
